Special education consultation for counselors
Do you feel unsure advising families dealing with special education issues in school?
Are you uncomfortable teasing out the roles and interactions between children with special needs and their family members?
Do you wish you were more confident working with less verbal, developmentally delayed, or otherwise exceptional children in your office?
As a psychotherapist and former special education teacher, I consult with counselors who work with special needs clients and their families. I work with local counselors in my Issaquah office or yours, and with non-local counselors via telephone and Skype.
You can feel confident drafting, reviewing, and revising Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and attending IEP meetings.
You can be effective counseling children with exceptionalities (so-called disabilities).
You can help families improve their interactions and relationships with one another and their child's school.
Your effectiveness and confidence are my goals.
If you're providing counseling to someone exceptional, and you want more confidence, consultation, or ideas, call me to see if we're a good fit. I look forward to working with you.
